Black Stars backroom rejigged
The Ghana FA is expected to announce a new Welfare and communications manager for the Black Stars. Supersport.com has gathered that the Ghana Football Association, in
the restructuring of its systems for effective results in the near
future, has sanctioned the creation of the new unit specifically for the
Black Stars.
The Black Stars have been battered since their return from the
Brazil World Cup with the Ghana FA having its fair share of the bashing.
This has been mostly for having a ‘loose system’ which seemed to have
aided the playing body to take the nation to ransom – with the World
Cup appearance fee drama which plunged the country into worldwide
ridicule.
Supersport.com sources indicate the new Welfare and Communications office has been earmarked to be occupied by an ex-footballer with former captains, Stephen Appiah and Joe Addo, having been contacted.
Appiah, the former Juventus and Fenerbahce star, served as part of the backroom staff of the 2014 Ghana World Cup team while Addo was recently appointed the Corporate Affairs Manager of local giants, Accra Hearts of Oak.
The new Welfare and Communications manager of the Black Stars will, among others, be responsible for promoting a positive working culture as well as facilitating effective communications within the Black Stars set-up.
Another ex-footballer, Kwame Ayew, uncle to the Ayew brothers, has been drafted into the management board of the Black Stars.
He joins experienced administrator, Cudjoe Fianoo, Lawyer Ernest Thompson, Adam Munkaila, Kwame Ofosu Bamfo and Yaw Boateng Gyan on the reconstituted committee which will be chaired by George Afriyie.
